The Town of Carp Ontario lies in the western part of Ottawa. Carp is a vibrant and rapidly growing community that is in close proximity to the city. The Carp road corridor is becoming one of Ottawa’s major commercial industrial sectors.With a growing population, and high sense of community there are ongoing housing developments and an increase in the activities to do within the Town.
It is approximately ten kilometers west of Kanata. Within Kanata, Tanger Outlet Mall is a large shipping complex across from Highway 417, Canadian Tire Centre and Palladium Auto Park. It is the go-to place for all your shopping needs! The West Carleton Family Health Team is the main medical center in Carp. They deliver comprehensive care for people of all ages throughout every stage of life. One of Carps main attractions is the Diefenbunker— Canada’s Cold War Museum (which also hosts an Escape Room). There are 2 Community Centres for the public to enjoy. The Huntley Community Association hosts various Sport Programs such as Hockey, Softball, Tennis and Pickleball. The W. Erskine Johnston Arena also hosts a variety of Sports but its main attraction is their Hockey Association.
The Carp Fair is another main attraction in Carp With great music, shows and a huge midway. Every year hundreds of volunteers join together to put on “The Best Little Fair in Canada!”. It has grown to be one of the largest Agricultural Fairs in the Capital region. Located at the FairGrounds in Carp, the Carp Farmers’ Market is the largest producer-based Farmers’ Market in Eastern Ontario. It is open Saturdays from 8:30am to 1:00pm from May to October (with various events during the year).
The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board and the Ottawa Catholic School Board operate public primary and secondary schools in the neighbourhood. There are no post-secondary options in the neighbourhood, so residents must travel closer to the city centre to access institutions like Algonquin College, Academy of Learning College, Herzing College, the University of Ottawa, and Carleton University.
