Rockliffe

Rockliffe Park is a neighbourhood in Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward, close to the centre of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Established in 1864, Rockcliffe Park is one of Ottawa's wealthiest and most historic neighbourhoods.

Rockliffe Park was first developed as an exclusive suburb for the wealthy in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Over the years, it has maintained its character as a well-to-do residential area. This region is rich in history, boasting several heritage-designated properties, as well as a collection of significant cultural and natural features.

This quiet, leafy community has been the choice of many prominent figures, including diplomats, senior public servants, and business leaders. A major reason for this is the Rockcliffe Park’s proximity to downtown Ottawa and its attractive setting along the southern banks of the Ottawa River.

Rockliffe Park also possesses significant natural beauty, including vast open spaces, well-preserved old-growth forests, and scenic views of the Ottawa River. This area is home to several parks and green spaces, most notably the Rockcliffe Park Pavilion and the Rockcliffe Rockeries.

Rockliffe Park's architecture is diverse, comprising an array of houses from Victorian manors to modern custom designs. It is characterized by large lots and expansive homes, with strict guidelines in place to ensure the preservation of the neighbourhood's character and heritage.

The neighbourhood is home to two of the city's most well-known private schools: Ashbury College and Elmwood School. In terms of public services, the local branch of the Ottawa Public Library and the community police station are accessible to residents.
